Display Case Motivation Reflection
Below is a picture of some of my students' artwork on display at Parma High School. Just outside of the classroom, in the hallway, is a long glass display case. While at Parma, I hung up and traded-out student artwork on a daily basis. My students' faces lit up with pride and excitement every time they discovered their artwork in the case. I watched them eagerly share their art with fellow students, and I heard them discussing goals with peers to make a piece of work fine enough to be selected for display.
Students develop a sense of pride in their artwork when it is up for show. Displays like mine at Parma High School not only allow students to share their work within the school, but also provide an opportunity for the community to connect with the art department. This sense of pride stemming from student work connects the art display to Danielson's Framework Domain 2b: Establishing a Culture for Learning.
