Teacher Interview
Following is a typed transcription of a teacher interview for Professor Debra Yates' Introduction to Teaching (EDU 202) course in 2010. I chose to interview Ms. Linda McMillin, a first-year art teacher at Notus Jr./Sr. High School. I focused the interview questions on classroom management, a sub-aspect of Danielson's Domain #2.
My interview transcription includes questions about classroom rules, discipline, motivation, routines, technology, differentiation, homework, classroom arrangement and more. The interview questions highlighted the uniqueness of Ms. McMillin's flexible grading deadlines; She rewarded students for their studiousness by delaying deadlines. She also motivated students to be creatively adventurous by offering them new materials to experiment with. I gained much useful advice from my interview with Ms. McMillin, much of which was later applied to my student-teaching practices.
