School District Research Project
The following two artifacts were created as part of a group school district investigation for Foundations of Schooling (EDU 301) with Don Burwell. In the spring term of 2011, I worked with peers Stacey Lewman, Yordanos Refu, and Nicole VanHorn to research school district #137, Parma. Together we gathered data and conducted interviews, compiling our findings to create a PowerPoint presentation, followed by individual reflection papers.
Conducting research for this project challenged me to discuss, analyze, and reflect upon educational theoretical frameworks and socio-cultural influences in a setting outside of the classroom. this experience demonstrates Danielson's Domain #4. Specifically, it is a testament of my work to Reflect on Teaching (4a), Participate in a Professional Community (4d), as well as Grow and Develop Professionally (4e). As a teacher, it is important to know your district and the many variables that make it unique. This project showcases my ability to research a district, extrapolate themes from my data, and reflect on my findings as an educator.
