Red Cross Partnership
The next artifact is a series of email communications between myself, Jenette Noe, and American Red Cross representatives from the Lewis and Clark Blood Services Region in Idaho. I began coordinating blood drives on the College of Idaho campus in 2009, and served as Head Coordinator from 2010-2013. These emails were sent in November of 2012, but they are representative of the positive partnership I have been engaging in with the Red Cross since 2009.
Coordinating blood drives on the College of Idaho campus is a responsibility that requires the multifaceted development of partnerships on and off campus. The Head Coordinator must communicate with Red Cross representatives to choose the dates of blood drives up to one year ahead of schedule. Cooperating with the Red Cross, the Head Coordinator must also work with campus Events Services to reserve a space on campus where the scheduled blood drives will be held. The Head Coordinator must also recruit a team of coordinators on campus who will work together as a team to advertise the event, schedule appointments, and green donors the day of the event. My leadership and collaboration with this network of groups demonstrates my strength in Danielson's Domain #4: Professional Responsibilities. My duties as Head Coordinator challenged me to Maintain Accurate Records (4b), Communicate with others (4c), Participate in a Professional Community (4d), and Show Professionalism (4f), all subsets of this domain. This artifact also represents Idaho Core Teaching Standard 10: Partnerships.
